The Mathemathics Den has opened, welcoming all students.
The Math Den offers additional support for students in the redesigned developmental math courses, such as MATH 090, 092, and 151.
If you’re looking for a place to work on your assignments with input from a math wizard, the Math Den could be the answer. There will always be someone present to assist students with their math.
Students can come and go as they please; the Math Den is open during multiple hours (see below). While it is designed to help students in developmental courses, it's available to any math students.
Josh Nocella, an MCCC alumnus, is one of several who take time out of their day to assist students in the Math Den.
“It’s been picking up lately, and I’m expecting a lot more students in the coming months, when November and December roll around,” he said.
“Professors are very used to students falling behind in their classwork during that time in the semester, and waiting until then to come ask for help,” he said.
It may be wise for students taking Math courses to defend against such a fallback before it begins by taking advantage of the Math Den.
MCCC student Benjamin Junkin said the tutors in the Math Den are always willing to help.
“We have a tutor right there if we need any help, so that’s always beneficial for us,” he said.
The Math Den is in Room 145, near the main entrance to the Life Science Building.
Math Den hours:
Monday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Tuesday: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.to 9 p.m.
Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.to 9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Whitman Center also has math tutoring hours, in Room 6:
Monday: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Tuesday: 2:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Thursday: 2:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
