NCAA Tournament Preview

As March approaches the college basketball tournament is right around the corner with some teams on the rise and others collapsing.

The tournament kicks off with the preliminary rounds to see which teams will receive bids for the 11, 12, and 16 seeds.

Teams like Michigan State, Syracuse, South Carolina, and Xavier are on the bubble as the last four in to the tournament ESPN’s Joe Lunardi reports.

Michigan State is in the middle of a surge towards the end of the season winning their last 4 games and a matchup against the fifth ranked Wisconsin Badgers on March 1.

Teams like the UCLA Bruins and Miami Hurricanes are on the downfall as the Bruins have lost 3 of their last five and the Canes have lost 5 of their last 8 placing them both on a list of the last four teams out.

Some teams have been riding on the backs of their all stars as Wisconsin and Duke have been depending on the play of their Wooden Award candidates.

Duke freshman Jahlil Okafor is averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds per game on the season scoring in double digits in every game he has played in. Whereas the Wisconsin senior, Frank Kaminski, leads his team with his experience having a similar average of 17 points and 8 rebounds per game.

And as the unanimous number one seed the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats look to continue their unbeaten streak. The Wildcats are one of the youngest teams in the nation with only five upper classmen. Kentucky dominates a weak SEC conference with their depth in bench rotating 10 players at any point in the game.

The tournament is set to begin March 17-18 and will conclude with the championship in Indianapolis on April 6.

There will be 68 teams who receive a bid to the big dance but only one team will be crowned champion.
