Get ready to have a ball in the style of Sin City.

MCCC Student Government is really upping the ante with the Sweetheart Ball coming up February 22.

The ball is a fresh take on the classic school dance. Allie Warner, secretary of Student Government, is excited about the new theme.

“The Sweetheart Ball is more of a party for college students,” Warner said.

The biggest addition to the dance is the crowning of a Sweetheart Ball king and queen. There will be voting through MCCC college emails. There will also be king and queen courts with posters around campus to promote the vote and dance.

If a student wants to be considered, they are required to submit a short biography including what they are studying, and a photo of themselves to post around campus.

Members of student government are looking forward to the coronation’s return. Jessica Marimpietri, student government member, welcomes the change.

“It is a really neat thing to pull in. Hopefully, we have a lot of people who will attend for that.”

Tickets to the dance are $25, and are be on sale at the Cashier’s office in the A Building. They will be on sale  until February 15. The ticket price includes a photo booth and a two entree buffet dinner.

There will also be a cash bar and DJ Martin, a favorite of MCCC. The cash bar is a new addition for student attendees of age.

“We couldn’t get a bar last year for the dance because we were too late to get the liquor license” Marimpietri said.

All current MCCC students, staff and alumni are invited and can bring a guest or a date. Students in the Middle College students are also welcome to attend.

“We welcome people of all ages, some of the faculty like to come, and it’s always a good time” Warner said.

“We hope a lot of the staff will come, too,” Tom Ryder, student government advisor said.

Many students are already looking forward to the dance and bringing guests from outside of the community college. After asking students if they were going to attend Marimpietri said she was eager to attend and bring a couple of friends.

Treasurer of student government Timothy Feaganes is also looking forward to the dance. Feaganes shared his enthusiasm about the upcoming event.

“I am looking forward to dancing and eating a lot of food,” he said.

LaRoy’s hall is 12375 S. Telegraph Road in LaSalle, and the dance will be from 6:00-11:00 p.m.

Get ready to come out to eat, drink, and get down.
