Citizens and students of Monroe have a new place to go enjoy a Monroe classic.
Monroe’s Original Hot Dog opened its new location Oct. 15 on Laplaisance Road in the old Wendy’s building.
Monroe’s Original is an Americana drive-in restaurant that serves hot dogs and homemade root beer.
Monroe’s Original started as an A&W location owned by Delmar Groves over 75 years ago. However, when A&W expanded their menu options, Groves decided to stick with hot dogs, chips, and drinks.
However, that has changed with the new location, as it features an expanded menu. The new items include chili cheese fries, ice cream, shakes, and even salad options.
The location also has multiple TVs for patrons to enjoy while dining.
