Technology - the Death of Communicaion, or the Rebirth?
4/25/12 12:34 AM
Smartphones, computers, iPods, and GPS technology is everywhere we turn these days. There has been an ongoing debate in the academic world of the influences and repercussions on society that have developed in a world so technologically connected. Have you ever noticed the number of people walking around on a day to day basis that are paying more attention to an electronic device than to the people and places around them? If you stop for just a minute (and put down that Droid phone) you will notice how disconnected from each other we have become. Everyone seems to be either glued to their smartphones or have their ears plugged up with headphones. Neighborhoods once teeming with activity are now quiet. Take a stroll around your own neighborhood one evening around sundown. What do...Game of Thrones....Awesome

A friend has been telling me for months that I need to watch the show Game of Thrones. He made claims that the show is possibly one of the best shows ever put on television. A pretty lofty statement. So yesterday evening went to my local video rental joint and decided to pick up the first season on DVD. I figured for around three bucks, if it was a piece of crap, I could watch the first episode and bring it right back to the place from whence it came. I got home, and sat on my sofa and popped the disk into my trust ol’ Playstation 3. First off, the visuals were cinema quality. I immediately felt like I was watching a movie rather than a TV show. The snowy landscape in the first scene was so realistic that you could count the snowflakes as they fell. Three knights began the...Fishing for Revelations

This past Sunday I went on a fishing trip to Indiana. My brother and I went with a good friend of ours to his in-laws’ home on Golden Lake, just outside of Angola. The weather was beautiful, about 75 degrees with clear skies and a warm, light breeze- perfect conditions for a fisherman. We launched our kayaks and went on our merry way. As we started to fish, I chose my favorite lure to use first, which seemed like it would be prime for catching some nice fish, considering the environment. After throwing that lure out there for an hour or so without any success, I decided to change lures to my next favorite. The trend continued. I tried everything in my tackle box, until I was tossing out lures that surely would not work. When the others caught up to me, they were joking about how...U.S. Support of Egypt raises questions
2/3/11 2:17 PM
In recent days, thousands of Egyptians have taken to the streets in protest, calling for the ousting of authoritarian President Hosni Mubarak and his regime. The unrest adds to a wave of civil demonstrations rushing across the Middle East in places like Algeria, Tunisia, Syria, Yemen, and Jordan; all of which suffer from severe unemployment, poverty, government corruption, police brutality, and poor public services. The U.S. is a country that supposedly stands as a beacon for justice and democracy. There is contrary evidence mounting about the way we support the people who the Egyptian citizens wish to dispel. According to the State Department's website, the U.S. gives $1.3 billion annually to Egypt for "military aid'. (This information has been removed from...
