An Optimistic Perspective

Due to a New Year’s resolution, I’ve decided to become a more positive person. Since that resolution I’ve looked at many issues in a different light. I’ll be using this blog to catalog the optimistic observations I make about topics like local issues, global news, history and philosophy.

Future goals challenged my Middle East unrest

For the last edition of The Agora, I wrote a multi-piece article on the Egyptian revolution and the global impact it has caused. During the long hours of skimming headlines and staying up-to-date on the topic, it really made me think hard about my career goals. My ultimate dream is to be a foreign correspondent – not to visit beautiful retreats and definitely not to cover the interesting choices of some foreign cuisines, but to photograph the bloody sand of Darfur and investigate cases of human trafficking. When I decided to follow the Middle East riots for The Agora this last edition, I immediately wished the college had a huge budget and a very lenient policy on students traveling overseas.
